City of Milton-Freewater Announces Two Programs to Help Citizens and Businesses Affected by COVID 19 Economic Distresses

The City of Milton-Freewater Announces Two Programs to Help Citizens and Businesses Affected by COVID 19 Economic Distresses

           

The City Council for the City of Milton Freewater has announced that the City will be implementing two programs to aid our citizens and business owners in the wake of COVID-19 economic impacts.

Both offer economic relief for utility bills, one for residents and one for business owners. The residential program has been in existence at the city for many decades, but has been expanded with additional monies; the program for business owners is new.

 

Residential Utility Assistance Program

The residential program, ‘Utility Bill Assistance Program’ has funding up to $250 per household for ‘customers in need’ to help with their utility bill. Customers may contact the Milton-Freewater Ministerial Association to apply for the funds by calling 541-701-1925 or 509-540-7824. Other sources to potentially help with your utility bill are ‘Self Sufficiency’ at 541-938-6627 or ‘CAPECO’ at 1-800-752-1139. The City requests that customers do not wait until the last minute to apply.

 

Small Business Utility Assistance Grant

In response to the recent COVID-19 pandemic, the City of Milton-Freewater is offering utility bill assistance for small businesses of less than 25 employees grant to aid our business community affected by state and federal mandated pandemic restrictions.  The grant will be a credit for the City of Milton-Freewater utilities (sewer, water, solid waste and electric) charges on account for a total maximum of $1,000 per business.  Criteria are as follows:

For businesses with 25 or less employees which are economically impacted by the COVID-19 restrictions and closures.
Requires a current City of Milton-Freewater Business License.
Lottery based (application required).

The application is available at City Hall (please call to request a mailed copy 541-938-8235 or 541-938-8233) or on the City’s website (mfcity.com) and must be submitted by 3:30 pm on May 8, 2020.
