Planning Department

Rolled blueprints

The Planning Department handles daily administration of the Zoning and Development Code relating to all land use development such as subdivisions, residential, commercial and industrial buildings, fence permits, sign permits and new businesses, as well as long-range planning activities. Planning staff work with citizens and businesses on land use issues in an attempt to promote area growth while at the same time preserving and enhancing the beauty and natural resources of our community.

Click below for Zoning Map.  We strive to provide the most updated version.  Contact should be made with the Planning Department if information needs to be verified.

The Planning Department also administers the City's Business License Program.  All businesses located within the City are required to obtain a business license, renewable in January of every year.

The Planning Department also is responsible for floodplain development management.  Click here for the most recent flood maps.

Building Permits

The Planning Department contracts out all Building Permits to the State Building Codes Division. If your project requires a Building Permit, the first step is to apply for a Zoning Permit with the Planning Department. Once you receive local zoning approval, the next step is to apply for the Building Permit. Please see the link below for more information about Building Permits.
