Police Department

The mission of the Milton-Freewater Police Department is to work with and for members of our culturally diverse community to enforce the law in a fair, firm and friendly manner, to provide and maintain a high level of professionalism in the performance of our duties, to preserve the peace, prevent crime, and strive to keep the public safe and secure. The goal of this department is to improve the quality of life in the community by actively participating in a partnership with the citizenry to keep our families and our neighborhoods safe and free of crime.

The Police Department staffs 11 sworn officers, 5 dispatchers, and a records/communications manager to provide 24 hour police services and support fire, ambulance and emergency response needs for the community.                                                                                       (Photo by permission of the Valley Times)

Our programs include criminal and traffic patrol, communications, narcotics investigator and City Code enforcement. We also offer an RUOK program with automatic daily phone calls to subscribers to check on their welfare at no cost. This program is beneficial for the elderly living alone, shut-ins or others with special needs and can be accessed by calling our dispatch and requesting to sign up.

Officer Pat Garrett teaches Drug Abuse Resistance Education (DARE) at the elementary  school levels in our school district.
