Electric Department - New Electric Services

1. Contact the Electric Department early in project planning. The Electric Superintendent must view the new service area and prepare an estimate of charges for new service.

The estimate will include the transformer, materials, labor, and trenching cost necessary for line extensions and or service improvements and upgrades to existing City electrical facilities. The following allowances will be applied towards the estimate:

  • Transformer allowance up to $650.00 per extension.
  • Labor allowance up to $2500.00. All labor and overhead costs above that amount will be paid by the developer.

Flat fee for temporary construction service is $100.00 for service drop and meter. Additional construction costs will be billed directly. Actual usage will be billed on a monthly basis.

Underground service fees are as follows:

  • Trenching / Backfilling: $ .75 per foot
  • Joint Use Fee $ .25 per foot

A copy of the estimate will be provided to the developer.

2. NEW SERVICE FEES MUST BE PAID BEFORE WORK IS BEGUN. In some instances, half of the fees can be paid in advance, with the other half due before the service is energized.

3. Service must be inspected and approved by the State Electrical Inspector before it can be energized. The Pendleton office can be reached at (800) 452-8156 or (541) 276-7814. Call the Electric Department after approval is granted (number is listed above) to get the service energized.

4. In addition to the new service fees, a MINIMUM DEPOSIT MUST BE PAID AND AN APPLICATION CARD FILLED OUT BEFORE SERVICE CAN BE ENERGIZED unless you already have a service with the City and have had good credit (good credit means having one year of payments with no more than one delinquent billing payment). For irrigation service the annual horsepower fee must also be paid.

5. You must give a minimum of three days’ advance notice to the Electric Department so work can be properly scheduled.
